Robber arrested with pistol in Ishwarganj
Khairul Islam Al Amin: Wasim Akram Khan was arrested by Ishwarganj Police Station from Atharbari in Ishwarganj, Mymensingh. He was arrested in Gabarkalyan village on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the police recovered a foreign pistol, a magazine full of 5 round bullet, the hijacked autorickshaw from the robber.
According to police press release, 3 passengers were hired from Morichpur area of Kendua upazila by a driver named Tofail Ahmed of Ganda village and brought to Gabarkalian in Atharbari union of Ishwarganj upazila. There is robbers got down from the autorickshaw and held a pistol at the driver’s head and robbed the autorickshaw.
Later, the local Public came and informed the police after hearing the auto driver’s call. On receiving the information, SI Jahangir Alam and ASI Arafat Hossain of Atharbari Investigation Center surrounded the entire area with the help of local Public and recovered the stolen autorickshaw from bamboo garden behind Omar Farooq’s house in Gabarkalian village. At that time, the robber Wasim Akram (40) was arrested with a pistol and 5 round bullets. Robber Wasim Akram is the son of Late Mohammad Ali of Charkhidirpur village of Kendua upazila of Netrakona district.
Officer in charge Ishwarganj police station Mohammad Majedur Rahman said that there are a total of 8 cases of murder, weapons and explosives against the arrested accused in Kendua police station of Netrakona district. The accused has been involved in armed robbery and land related crimes along with his accomplices for a long time. A case has been registered against him in the Ishwarganj Police Station under the Robbery and Arms Act and handed over to the court. Efforts are on to arrest other co-accused.
